Newsletter #100 05/19/2009
We got a call a couple weeks ago from the IRS -- but it's not what you may
think. The woman I spoke with wanted us to know that there was an IRS
Leadership Conference taking place in Denver on May 15th. During the
conference she explained that they were planning to "pass the hat" to take
up a collection for a local charity, and they had picked SAME Cafe to be the
recipient of that collection. We were honored that they had chosen the
cafe, and more than happy to drop by and tell the folks a bit about the cafe
and how it works. Little did we realize how many folks we were going to be
speaking to -- there were 850 conference attendees in all! It was
incredible to stand in front of the sea of faces to explain the cafe model,
as well as to accept their collection proceeds which added up to JUST OVER
$5000! We were blown away by their generosity. It was a good thing that
Libby is such a great public speaker, because I was at a loss for words
other than "Thank You!!!"
Once again, let me say Thank You to the wonderful folks from the IRS as well
as to all of you who help support SAME Cafe. We could not do this without
you!

What a wonderful idea you have! You have inspired me; I write about meditation and awakening, and I offer books on donations of any amount, or none. A marketing consultant told me that will not work, because people place value on prices. He's completely right, but after seeing your idea, I am inspired to continue with this model...Thanks!
